The Elephant Ear Plant otherwise known as Malanga
Anyone who loves gardening here in Florida, has seen them, They grow into these lovely big ear'd plants in the shade and some even tolerate the sun. I've seen them in the bulbs sections of the garden stores for 9 -10 dollars a bag. Well you can buy the root plant in a Supermarket produce section they are called MALANGA. West Indies and Caribbean cuisine, eat these root vegetables in stews.
The root vegetable grows but it takes at least a few weeks, Make sure you water them and give them enough space to grow, I plant them in shady parts of the garden, But they love full on sun as long as they are watered regularly
The root vegetable runs for about 79 cents a pound or at worst a dollar a pound, eat em or plant them, they are a delight
